Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned practices and fearsome changes echo through the darkness." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden cult.
The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana alongside several items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
